oleCreateAutoObject of python com object does not seem to work in Windows 7

I have a python com object that I used to register in Windows XP and use to interface to DOORS 8.3 using DXL OLE automation. The python COM object is actually itself an interface to ClearQuest (it uses ClearQuest.Session API).

Now I have upgraded to Windows 7 64 bit, and also upgraded to DOORS 9.3.
After I registered my python object to Windows 7 using Python 2.7 32bit, it seems to be working fine ( I tested it in python).

However, DXL OLE automation is not able to get this COM object. When I run oleCreateAutoObject, it just returns null.

Here is my code: (CQTest is the _reg_progid_ of my python COM server)

string obj_name= "CQTest"
OleAutoObj cqObj= oleGetAutoObject(obj_name)
if (null cqObj){
    cqObj=
       oleCreateAutoObject(obj_name)
}

if (null cqObj){
    infoBox "FAILED creating object"
}
else
{
        infoBox "Created"
}

The outcome of running this is alawys "FAILED creating object"

If I use any other interface, for example "Word.Application" it creates the object successfully.

Has anybody used python registered COM objects in DOORS DXL in Win 7, does it work, ?

It really does not seem to be a very DXL specific question. You should try to reproduce your problem of not being able to talk to your COM server from python or vb script. If the problem persists you might want to search for an answer on a python forum. Sorry for not being helpful here, Regards, Mathias
